Have you booked your seat? Tickets on sale now for the RocknRoll 50s Prom to be held at Telarah Bowling club on Saturday 13 May with Mescalero and Dj Vinnie.
Mescalero are renowned for their experience and will be performing a great mix of RocknRoll and Swing.

TICKET SALES have been received well for this years Christmas in July which will be held at Central Coast Leagues Club with another double header followed by last years success.

Our chosen charity once again is Coast Shelter Gosford. We will be collecting clothing, non perishables, toiletries and manchester on the night. Cash donations will also be

Annual 1950s Prom Dance 13 May 2017
It’s Prom time once again on Saturday 13 May!
Rev those engines, flounce those skirts and get your Blue Suede Shoes on!

We are happy to announce Mescalero performing at Telarah Bowling Club with DJ Vinnie and a performance by the Sydney Swing Katz will have you hanging on to your seats. Looking for Prom Queen and Prom King and prizes for the Best Dressed. Tickets will be on Sale mid February please email bluesuedes@hotmail.com to book your table or seat.
We do invite classic car owners to bring your cars along to park out the front of the club.

The NSW STATE TITLES
Attention competitors, spectators, teachers and adjudicators. Please mark your diaries for this years Annual NSW State Titles to be held at Sat 12 August at Parramatta RSL. This event is open to all ages and all levels. Entry forms and spectactor tickets will be available from March. We are happy to announce interest from Queensland and new members from Melbourne this year.

We do ask all adjudicators and Studio owners to encourage their students both beginners and intermediate levels. This year there are new adjudicators joining our team bring a fresh new approach.

One of a kind Stall
Thank you to everyone who popped in to our Stall at Lady Luck. It was a huge success and special thanks to Sue Wells and Don Jones for assisting Michael and myself on the day. Troupe & workshops
With so many requests last year for the Katz to come and teach on the coast we are now inviting you to share your expressions of interest for workshops in the Central Coast area.   These will be opened to all levels and all ages with a member of the Swing Katz teaching. The venue will be Gosford and on a Saturday. A date will not be confirmed until we have the minimum number of 30 students.

Just for Kids
Kiddies classes are held every Thursday at Plumpton Neighbourhood Centre 5.30pm
We accept casual rates at $10 per week or terms$90 for 10 weeks.  There are no registration fees and no costumes or uniforms.  We do ask the children wear comfy shoes and bring bottled water especially in the warmer months.  We encourage children from 5 to 14 years. The classes are fun and have a social atmosphere.  They run for 45minutes and the children will be taught RocknRoll and Lindy Hop. They also have the opportunity to be part of  a team and enter dance competitions and performances troupes.  Parents are asked to wait in the foyer the children are taught in a closed room.

4 plus 4
What’s 4 plus 4? Our popular 4 week short courses
Our courses this year have been simplified for all new beginner students and regular intermediate/advance students. Our courses on the Central Coast, Mayfield and Plumpton re start each month, bringing you NEW fresh courses and encouraging new beginner students to join our classes.
These venues will run 4 week courses followed by a continuing 4 weeks to improve and retain the steps and patterns being taught adding flair, technique, increasing tempo and introducing simple moves to help in the transition of the achieving the next level.
Courses will be taught in a routine format to get you up dancing sooner. We will also be introducing our popular ballroom courses with Cha Cha coming firstly to Plumpton in March.

Dancing Dayz Socials
Following the rave of last years Social Nights we have listened to your requests and we are pleased to announce the following confirmed dates for our Socials.
These socials will replace our dance classes on the following dates. Furthermore we are working with bands to perform at some of the midweek socials on the central coast. We do ask for your support as these socials will only continue if they are received well.
Please check the flyer below and print it off for your record. This flyer will be available at all venues in the coming weeks.

SUMMER EDITION
The sun is about to set as we get closer to the end of Term 4.
This is my favourite time of year – Summer and Christmas and a well deserved break.
So can we hear the rustling of paper, laughter of children and Christmas carols??

Where has the year gone?
It has been a big year celebrating our 25^th Birthday with lots of changes and lots of new wonderful students join our team and let’s not forget our loyal students who have been there with us throughout the last 10 plus years.  Thank you for the memories.

The time of GIVING – FREE
This time of year we like to draw our term passes and offer free dance classes as a way of saying Thank you. We will upload our winners on Facebook next week.

This Saturday 10 December is our annual Christmas Party.   Don’t forget to dress in circus theme and bring along some Christmas cheer to decorate your tables.

We will have prizes for best dressed table and best costume. Our yearly Student Awards and Life time Award will be announced on the night and there will be fun and frivolity in our crazy photo booth. Bring your family and friends along to support the students

Next Saturday 13 August is The NSW STATE TITLES and will be held at Parramatta RSL. The doors open at 9am for competitors and officials and at 9.30am for spectactors. Please note all tables have been sold and are all reserved. There are seats available at some tables and along the back wall. There is also standing room.  The first event will start at 10.15am and should finish at 5.30pm.

Bring your dance shoes as there will be social dancing throughout the day and during the lunch break.

Changing place, changing time, change in the future!
Brace yourself !  A lot can happen in the blink of an eye!!

We have been blessed this Autumn with the most beautiful warm weather and stunning sunsets. But we knew only too well that the change was coming. Just like the seasons change there will be changes at Blue Suede Shoes on the Central Coast & Newcastle.

It’s our 25^th year of Service and I think back of the early days when I first began at Ashlar Golf Club in Blacktown. And just like that very first day I find myself with the same mixed emotions of excitement and uncertainty of having to let go and move on from some of our established locations. Please be sure to read on and check the changes to Toukley & Long Jetty below.

Long Weekend Monday 13 June – All venues will be closed on the Central Coast & Hunter.
Please note Long Jetty will be closed 7 June and there will only be 2 classes this month at this venue 14 and 21 June.

Emu Plains classes will go ahead as normal for the Long Weekend Monday.
Camden RSL will be off on Monday 13 June.

Blue Suede Shoes Dance School is covered by Dance Cover Aust Pty Ltd and with the new changes to our Insurance Policy we have opted to bring back the Waiver Clause. Please note as a student you are covered by any negligence on behalf of our staff at any of our venues. If you should injure yourself through your own negligence please note you are not covered. There is an additional Student Accident Insurance available for a small fee. If you would like any further information please contact me. 

RENTAL INCREASE EFFECTIVE 1^ST JULY
As you can appreciate we do our best to keep our fees down and be as cost effective as possible. In the last 5 years we have been fortunate to absorb the increasing rental costs and overheads and kept fees frozen. As from 1^st July our increases come into play and some of our venues will notice a fee increase.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Are you ready to relish in all things 50’s? Are you set for this year’s RocknRoll Prom?
There will be classic cars, best dressed, mothers day raffle, dancing, photo booth,
performances by Voodoo Rhythm Shakers, Mitch Capone as Elvis and the Swing Katz.

Introducing a new Location in May
Weston Workers Club, Monday 2 May at 7pm
Our first course at this venue is Rockabilly. There will be a Beginners Course and an
Improvers Course for those who have danced Rockabilly.

Our charity of choice this year is Coast Shelter. A well deserved non-profit charity on the Central Coast looking after the homeless and disadvantaged for over 20 years.
Also, coordinating provision for over 1000 free meals per week.

Firstly tonight Fri 1st April we will be all dancing at Club Marconi, Bossley Park with No Brakes performing.  We encourage all students to come along, bring the kids. It’s free.  Large dance floor and plenty of parking.

WSDC NSW State Titles 2016
Competitors from around the country converged with more than 50 couples competing last year in a variety of events.
This year we are excited to announce 2 new cash prize sponsors to the value of $1000 for the Youth/Adult Open RocknRoll and Youth/Adult Open Lindy Hop events.
Entry forms are now available for this year’s NSW State Titles.

What’s New
We have a new location coming to you at Weston Workers Club starting Mon 2 May.
This will be a trial run with Rockabilly and Swing Classes for Beginners and Intermediate.  The club also books Rocknroll and Rockabilly bands and we look forward to some great social nights.  Please spread the word around.

50s Prom New Venue
PLEASE NOTE due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control we have had to move the 50s Rocknroll Prom to a new venue.
Our previous venue double booked our date & we were treated very unprofessionally by management. After much searching we have confirmed a new venue at Telarah Bowling Club, Clark Street Telarah, minutes away from Maitland. We appreciate your understanding and I do hope you will come along and support this event.
For those going to AutumnFest this venue is only minutes away. We truly apologise for the inconvenience and will honour anyone who wishes a refund.

Tuesday 22 March at Long Jetty and Thursday 24 March is our Easter Egg Hunt at
Plumpton. Thursday 31 March is the final class for Term 1.  Childrens classes will resume at Long Jetty on Tuesday 19 April and Thursday 21 April for Term 2.

Triples Workshop Tues 1 March
Opened to all.
This Tuesday 1st March at Long Jetty will be our first Triples Workshop in a series of 3 this year.  The workshop will commence at 7pm and followed by social dancing.
There will be no Swing class at 8pm.  The Beginners RocknRoll class will still go ahead at 7pm.

Introducing Eden Roper
We are happy to announce the return of Eden Roper to our teaching team. Eden will be commencing at our Stockton Venue in March.  Eden is a bubbly and enthusiastic Kat that brings character, charisma and energy to her classes.  Eden has been doing swing and rock’n’roll for over 6 years now and competes and performs along the way.  We are excited to have Eden back teaching.
 

Speaking of return it is great to see Steen Mayer at the Jetty assisiting with the Kiddies and Adults classes.

Vintage Hair Styling Workshop Central Coast
What a fabulous day!! Here is a picture of the beautiful ladies after our very first Pincurls & Bobby Pins, Powder & Paint Workshop.  A day of vintage hairstyling and makeup by the wonderful Miss Pixie and Nasya from Boogie Bop Dames.
If there are any ladies in the Sydney area that are interested in one of these workshops please let me know. We would like a minimum of 10 to run the workshop.

Morriset Country Club is the place to be  with Voodoo Rhythm Shakers and DJ Vinnie on Sat 7 May at 7pm.

The Club has a long history of RocknRoll and Rockabilly and it’s only fitting to bring the Prom to this venue. We have secured a few allocated spaces for classic cars at the front
entrance in the staff and director carpark. Limited spots available. Please book your spot to avoid disappointment.

Join the Charleston Challenge at the Hydro Majestic in the Blue Mountains. Calling all
fellow dancers to the Hydro Majestic and dress up in the Roaring 20’s.  Let’s see if we can break the World Record and bring it back to Oz.

Expression of Interest for a 50s Dance’n’Dine Party.
We are proposing to swap one of our Long Jetty Socials to the American Diner at The Entrance .

Eli the Manager has offered us a menu at $30 per head (adults) to include a 2 course meal and $6 children’s meal and the venue will be closed to the public for us dancers all night from 6.30pm .
Please email me your interest.   This is opened to all dancers. Plenty of dance floor! Bookings essential with deposit. There is a minimum required.
