This Thursday 2 April at Plumpton
We will be holding an Easter Hop Pot Luck after class. Please bring a small plate to share.
The RocknRoll Class will be cancelled and the Swing Class will be brought forward to the 7pm time slot.
There will be Social dancing from 8pm.
We will also have an Egg Hunt for the kiddies at 5.30pm. Please advise us if your child cannot attend. The children will have 2 weeks off and return 23 April.

Christmas in July
Following up from our 50s RocknRoll Prom the next event is our annual Christmas in July with this year’s theme –
“A DAY AT THE RACES”.
Welcoming back the Lemon Squeezin Daddies with Pearl upfront and we will have Dj Vinnie spinning the tunes during the breaks. This is an annual event where we collect goods for the Salvation Army Winter Appeal.
The event will be held at Central Coast Leagues Club on Sat 25 July. Tickets will be on sale end of April for $20.

Without a doubt this has been the busiest start to the year in a long time! It is wonderful to see so many new faces joining each week. For the first time in my 23 years I haven’t been able to keep up, so if you are new and you do see me floating around please introduce yourself. I love to get to know my students on first name basis, so don’t be shy now.
Courses in March
Stockton RSL– This venue unanimously voted to keep the same courses running in March. Therefore Rockabilly Beginners and Intermediate will continue in the first time slot and Swing Beginners Level 2 and Balboa Level 2 will continue at 8.10pm.
There will be NO course changes to Long Jetty, Concord, Emu Plains or Camden RSL (Monday Nights)
Gosford, Plumpton & Camden RSL (Thursday nights)– We are Waltzing through the month of March at these venues.
Gosford – Swing Intermediate Class- Unfortunately due to the new format it will be couples only at this venue and both must be of intermediate level.
North Shore Venue is on hold and we will keep you informed as soon as it is confirmed.

All welcomed bring family and friends. Certificate Presentation Night.
Stockton RSL
Social will be held Monday 30 March at 6.30pm – Certificate Presentation Night will be held on this night. There will be no classes.
Plumpton Easter Hop & Hunt will be held Thursday 2 April – Bring a SMALL plate to share. Classes will start 15 minutes earlier so we can finish by 8pm and have a social dance party from 8pm-9pm. There will be an Easter Hunt for the children.

An expression of interest for anyone who would be interested in a High Tea Jazz afternoon. Welcome Everyone to our February Newsletter!
All classes are now officially up and running! There was a great BUZZ at all the venues and classes were Amazing! Thank you!
If the first week was any indication, we are up for an Awesome year ahead! Everyone is fired up and keen to learn.
If you weren’t able to get to class last week and haven’t yet checked in, it’s not too late! Make the effort to come along and see what all the hype is about and why we all have so much fun. It’s addictive!
This year we will be keeping you on your toes. So look out for those emails and Facebook posts and be ready for changes month to month. The changes will range from special rates for one night only, social nights, teachers swapping classes and of course new courses.
Love is in the Air! In the month of February be sure to check the gig guide in week 2 and ask someone for a dance on Valentine’s Day 14 February.
Just 4 Kids classes
The Children’s RocknRoll classes will return at Plumpton on Thursday 5 February and Long Jetty 10 February. We are taking new enrolments and are keen to advertise in Primary School Newsletters. If you know of Schools that would embrace this please contact me at bluesuedes@hotmail.com. The Term fees are $90 or $45 1st week of each month for February and March. We look forward to the return of all our kiddies.

Toowoon Bay Surf Club Charity Night on Sat 7th February – We have been invited by one of our students to attend and perform at this event. They are raising money to educate children and women in under privileged villages in India. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased from Graham by ringing 0419 326 555 or coming along on Tuesday night to Long Jetty.

Plumpton Review
The definition of a new start to this New Year has been demonstrated by all our returning students from last year’s Woodcroft venue. When one door closes another opens. Whilst I was a fish out of water in week one, I can gladly say I felt more at home in week two. Thank you to all the staff, our newbies and all our loyal students. Woodcroft was home for over 2 decades but we have been blessed with our wonderful new venue.

There are a couple of changes and additions to our courses and venues. For those at Woodcroft please note the venue caught fire on 8th January and is in disrepair with the roof caved in and the building gutted. We are looking at a venue in the vicinity. The Council and Caretaker have been in contact and have a substitute venue for us for which we are thankful.
Woodcroft was home to Blue Suede Shoes for over 20 years. We were the first hirer and the longest standing hirer at this venue. It has saddened very many of us, including staff and students past and present. I was overwhelmed by the phone calls, messages and emails from so many. Wonderful memories for myself and Justin and so many of our young adults who began their journeys at Woodcroft.
We are ready to start new memories in a new fresh year at a new venue.

In 2015, we will expand our focus beyond weekly classes and introduce workshops, socials and performance classes to compliment regular weekly classes and enhance your styling and footwork and general repertoire.

Our Highlights this year was Frankie Manning’s 100th Birthday in New York, The Wartime in July Salvation Army Event, Chromefest Sockhop and the success of the WSDC NSW State Titles. We will continue to bring these events to you next year and will also keep our syllabus content fresh and up to date with a view of what is current.

At this year’s Christmas Party we have introduced 2 New Awards along with our annual Best Couple Award and Student of the Year Award. We will have a rookie award for the New Kid on the Block and a Long Term Award for students who have been with Blue Suede Shoes Dance School for 10 years.
LONG JETTY SOCIAL
Thank you to all who supported this event. It was a great success with wonderful feedback. We look forward to next year’s Social. Dates will be released in February.
GOSFORD SOCIAL

STOCKTON RSL DANCE PARTY
Monday 1st December will be our last class for this year at Stockton RSL and the following week Monday 8th December we will have DJ Brian Bean for our Jingle Bell Rock Dance Party. Everyone welcomed including children.

We will be running the first of many Socials at Long Jetty this month on Tuesday 18 November. There will be no classes instead DJ Vinnie will be spinning his tunes. We welcome everyone students and non students, family friends etc Entry fee is $5 at the door this is to cover the overheads. Starts at 6.30pm to 9pm.
MEDALS AFTERNOON
Sunday 9 November at Telarah Bowling Club 1.30pm for a 2pm start.
Gary Haigh from All Shook Up is hosting the Medals.
Medals fees for Members $35 non members $45. All styles, all levels.

WELCOME on BOARD
We would like to introduce a new Professional Anthony Sewell who is joining Blue Suede Shoes Dance School. Anthony is a qualified teacher with the Australian RocknRoll Dancesport Council with many years experience. Anthony will be teaching on the Central Coast and at Stockton.
We would also like to make welcome Miss Serah Aber. Serah is in training and you will see her assisting at Long Jetty, Gosford and Stockton. Her expertise is Rockabilly and she is also currently learning Swing. Earlier this year Serah received her first competition title in the Adults Rockabilly section at the NSW State Titles.
Anthony will also be training Miss Serah Aber for her Level 1 qualifications.
WHAT’S NEW
A NEW ADDITIONAL NIGHT AT CAMDEN RSL.
Yes that’s right a second night at Camden RSL. We will be commencing a 4 week Taster Course in Cha Cha followed by social dancing at Camden RSL on Thursday 6 November at 7pm. So whether you are a beginner or want to revisit the basics this course is for you.
Members $10 Non Members $15. Your teacher is our very own Matt Adami who you may know from the Sydney Swing Katz.
Please enrol for this course ask your friends along. We hope to bring you many different styles next year on a Thursday night.

CONGRATULATIONS! The NSW State Titles
Congratulations to all who participated at the NSW State Titles presented by WSDC. It was our largest competition to date and attended by overseas and interstate couples with officials also coming from overseas and interstate. Thank you to all our volunteers, judges, sponsors and officials. Photos and video clips can be viewed on the WSDC Facebook page.
STOCKTON SOCIAL
The Stockton course ended 25 August and Monday 1st September we will have our first Social Night with DJ Brian Bean. All welcomed 6pm – 8.30pm. Cost $5

Triples RocknRoll Course – Woodcroft & Long Jetty
There has been a few requests to teach Triples RocknRoll. We are now taking names down for a 4 week Triples RocknRoll Course at the above venues. Triples RocknRoll is made up of 3 dancers – 1 Lead and 2 followers. Should you be interested please enrol by email. We require a minimum of 3 teams for the course to go ahead.

FEES
We are proud to announce that our Schedule Fee will remain the same this financial year. All casual fees will remain at $15 for most venues except for Camden & Emu Plains where they have been reduced to $10. Central Coast, Concord and Woodcroft can also take advantage of our 4 Lesson Pass for $50 and 8 Lesson Pass for $90 during Term 3. Private Lessons are available by appointment.
