They say April Showers brings May Flowers.  My ballet slipper orchids are on point
flowering away.

May is dedicated to Mothers Day and we wish all you mums, mums to be and fill in mums a very Special Mothers Day.

May is also Frankie Manning’s Birthday Anniversary and a true treasure to all Swing Lovers around the world.  Frankie would have been 108 years this year on 26 May.  What better way to celebrate this year at our Night at the Albert Palais showcasing that very era.

29 April International Dance Day
International Dance Day is a global celebration of dance and is celebrated every year on 29 April.  Grab a partner and go dancing!
General
Firstly, I would like to thank the team for hosting the BSS Birthday Party during my absence and thank you all for the great feedback. This event was well attended and a huge
success. It is also gratifying to see the Festivals have started back with great attendance and success.
I was so pleased to see the Swing Katz back performing at the Parkes Elvis Festival.

Classes
Class numbers are slowly coming back to life but we have definitely taken a hard hit with fewer beginner enrolments than previous years which have resulted in some venue
closures.  We do apologise for these closures but it was a necessary evil.
We also apologise for some of our cancelled courses due to poor enrolments.
We are extremely thankful to our intermediate classes for their loyalty and attendance it is very much appreciated and doesn’t go unnoticed and we do hope our new students who have joined us are enjoying their journey.

A Night at the Albert Palais PLEASE NOTE EVENT DATE CHANGED TO 26 NOVEMBER
If you are looking for an excuse to dress up and go out dancing in a historic venue we have our next event at the Albert Palais in Leichhardt on Saturday 26 NOVEMBER.
This venue will not disappoint and we have secured the Cool Swinging Aston Martinis, a crowd favourite.
Join us for an elegant affair and evening of fun and
celebration.
The room set up is with round tables seating 8-10 per table and there is bar service.
Tickets available NOW, get in early  it’s an event you won’t want to miss!

Chromefest Dates 21-22 October
I have been asked to host the Friday and Saturday events at Chromefest this year.  I don’t have any information as yet.  Once details are forwarded I will keep you all in the loop.  There will be 50 early bird tickets allocated for presale so keep an eye out for the email.  These early bird tickets will not be published on Facebook.

Fathers Day this Sunday 1st September – We would like to wish all the Dads, dads to be, and step in dads and moms a truly Happy Fathers Day and hope you get spoilt.

Since our last News we held the Christmas in July and WSDC NSW State Titles and I would like to thank everyone who supported these events.  They were both a huge success and we had some wonderful volunteers and sponsors who helped make this events run
without a hitch.  Truly blessed by the support.

Woodcroft
Firstly I would like to say how good is it to be back at Woodcroft!!
Home for 20 years and still feels like home after our 4.5 year absence during its rebuild.

Once a Month Monday night Jazz
Thank you to the support of the Central Coast Dancers for their attendance in August at the Central Coast Leagues Swing Dance night with the Con Artists Big Band. It was fantastic news to hear they broke the attendance record.   Well done you have spoken with action!!!

Shakin Saturdayz
Our next social at St Johns Heritage Church Woy Woy will be held on Saturday 14
September 6.30pm – 10.30pm.  Food order details to come. Everyone welcomed all venues all levels all ages.  $8 at the door (13yrs & under free)

It is a BYO venue so nibbles permitted and we do ask to please take your rubbish with you when you leave.
There is a charming venue great dance floor and great enclosed courtyard  at this venue and off street parking.



Chromefest Friday Bop 25 October
There are still tickets available for Chromefest Friday night gig at Mingara Recreation Club with Ezra Lee & his band and DJ Gav Bean.  This gig is a must!  If you love the greats like
Jerry Lee Lewis you will be amazed with Ezra.  Our very own home grown Australian singer songwriter.


Pyjama Party –Sat 30 November Castle Hill Bowling Club with Aston Martinis
The end of year Christmas Party was announced last week and in less than 48 hours 150 tickets were sold.  We have closed the cart now as all tables have sold out.  We do have a handful of seats available on certain tables. Please message or email me for your booking.  Please note you will be seated accordingly to where seating is available. You will be free to mix and mingle through the night.  It is a small venue and we are limited at this venue.
Standing room tickets also available.

One of a Kind Clothing
After a 2 month spell One of a Kind Clothing has taken off both online and off. We have some great consignment stock thanks to our Consignors locally and interstate.  We will be at Chromefest once again hopefully in the same spot opposite the Sails Stage.
Please note our racks are overloaded we have limited the consignment now.
No skirts, pants or accessories i.e hand bags, shoes, hair accessories are being collected at this point in time.

Kids Classes
We are looking to start a Kids Class at Woodcroft in mid September.  If you have children, grandchildren or friends who may be interested in bringing their child along please pass on the information.  Open Day on Thursday 12 September at 5.45pm.
Blue Suede Shoes Dance School is an Active Kids Provider which means the child will
benefit by applying for the voucher through Services NSW and receive 10 free lessons.
We also teach on the Central Coast.  We are looking for more girls between the ages of 7-13 years of age who may wish to enroll in this last quarter.

NSW State Titles Re cap
Congratulations to all competitors and officials for a successful 2017 NSW State Titles Championship. It was the most pleasurable and fun championship I’ve had to organize since its conception in 2010. We had a fantastic team behind the scenes to which I am very appreciative of.
Thank you to all the support from our sponsors, officials, family, friends, dance studios and spectators. We have secured Saturday 11 August 2018 for our next championship.

Our popular students routine is back for our Christmas Party.
Please check with all venues to register your interest.
The following venues will start a 4 week course on the following dates:
-Plumpton will begin Thursday 7 September at 8pm.

End of Year Christmas Party Story Book Theme
Get ready for this year’s end of year Christmas Party. Save the date Friday 8 December at Parramatta RSL with THE LINCOLNS from South Australia and home grown Hellcat III with Dj Vinnie.  There will also be our popular student participation routine!
All welcomed ! family friendly.

Chromefest is fast approaching and we are now collecting consignment. If you have any vintage or preloved Rockabilly ladies or mens clothing please email me. We have decreased our range and will not be accepting preloved shoes, jewellery, hats or handbags.

Friday Night Bop
Friday 27 October at The Entrance Leagues Club join us with Hellcat III.
We have 30 tickets remaining. Please note this is a seated event and there is a bistro available and ample car parking.

Medal Examination
Our second medal examination night will be held at Gosford Hall Corner of Albany Street North & Henry Wheeler Place, Gosford on Wednesday 1st November at 7pm.

Please email us for the nomination form. Medals Fee for BSS students and All Shook Up Students is $35 per medal.
Spectactors welcomed for a small $5 fee.

The school has advised to please note that Smoking is prohibited in the grounds of the school and in all government premises.

If you have booked a private lesson and cancel on the day of the lesson a cancellation fee of $33 is charged and is payable.
Unfortunately we need to pass on the overhead costs.
